Man Wanted In String Of Castaic Burglaries Arrested In Sylmar

A man wanted for several vehicle burglaries in Castaic was arrested Monday and was found in possession of a “significant” amount of methamphetamine and collectible sports cards.

Deputies with the Crime Impact Team (CIT) have been searching for a suspect responsible for several vehicle burglaries that occurred in Castaic, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Thorough follow-up investigation led them to the suspect in Sylmar where they were able to make contact during a traffic stop on Bledsoe and Bradley Streets, Arriaga said.

While contacting the occupants of the vehicle, deputies observed drug paraphernalia within the suspects’ reach, according to Sheriff’s officials.

“A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of drug paraphernalia, a significant amount of methamphetamine and an unserialized, loaded firearm,” Arriaga said.

A woman was also noted to have an outstanding felony warrant for her arrest.

“The vehicle itself was believed to be stolen,” Arriaga said.

Rafael Solis, 38, a transient,  who is a previous convicted felon, was determined to be the suspect responsible for the previous vehicle burglaries in Castaic.

Solis was arrested for possession of a loaded firearm and controlled substance, grand theft auto, possession of a controlled substance for sales and more.

Property that was allegedly stolen from the vehicles in Castaic was located with Solis.

AnnMarie Catano was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sales, among other narcotics charges, alongside her warrant.

Both suspects were booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and remain in custody at this time.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
