Multiple Stolen Credit Cards Recovered During Traffic Stop In Canyon Country, Suspect Arrested

Multiple stolen credit cards were recovered during a traffic stop in Canyon Country last week, with one suspect being taken into custody.

Around 1:30 a.m. Friday, deputies conducted a traffic stop near Sand Canyon and Soledad Canyon Roads in Canyon Country for a vehicle code violation, said Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Upon making contact with the driver… deputies learned that he was on active parole and probation on weapon-related charges and robbery,” Miller said.

During the deputies’ field investigation, they found multiple credit cards and documents belonging to at least 10 individuals, according to Miller.

Jose Padilla, 35, from Palmdale, was arrested on felony charges of identity theft, according to officials.

Padilla was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail and remains in custody on no bail, according to Miller. He is due in court Tuesday.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
