Nearly 50 Percent Of Weekend Arrests Out Of Town Residents

Just under 50 percent of the weekend arrests reported in Santa Clarita over the weekend were not Santa Clarita Valley residents, according to arrest logs.

Over the weekend, 34 arrests were reported by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office.

Roughly 47 percent of the arrests reported over the weekend were for individuals who reside outside of the Santa Clarita Valley, including four individuals from Lancaster and one from Washington state, among others.

Although the weekend was one day longer thanks to Martin Luther King Day, there were fewer arrests in the Santa Clarita Valley compared to the week before, with 39 arrests Jan 8-10 and only 34 arrests Jan 15-18, a decrease of 13 percent.

Of the 34 arrests, 16 arrests, or 47 percent, were related to drugs and alcohol. 10 of the drugs and alcohol arrests were reported as drivers under the influence (DUI) of drugs, alcohol or both.

The other drugs and alcohol arrests included three charges of possession of a controlled substance and three charges of being drunk or under the influence in public.

There were a total of 11 felony charges over the weekend, one of which was a Lancaster resident charged with evading police, whose bail was set at $75,000.

The Lancaster resident was initially stopped in a Lexus near Sand Canyon Road on the 14 Freeway, according to Josh Greenguad with the California Highway Patrol – Newhall Office.

“Once officers approached the vehicle the Lexus accelerated and fled the officers,” Greengard said.

The pursuit led officers to Pearblossom Highway, where the vehicle crashed and the driver was arrested.

Three of the reported weekend arrests were made for transients, and were for charges of drug possession, a parole warrant, and refusal to leave a property.

  1. I appreciate that the Sheriff’s are still allowed to try and keep some level of law and order in the community where many of them live while a growing number of residents (many of whom comment on here) tolerate and even welcome all these crimes. Some of us still want a level of law and order while we work on plans to relocate. Then the rest of you can have SCV turn into the SFV’s and Palmdales like you want. Not sure why at least one town cant be safe in CA.

  2. We’re still a great overall community, despite the Liberals tolerating, excusing, covering up the disgusting behavior of those they are abedding by not telling/printing the facts/truths! They can’t even tell the facts/truths of which areas the COVID-19 outbreaks are to help keep innocent families safe even when the innocent families wear masks and distance! And now with DA Gas-Con abedded by those Liberals and Newsom/Garrshity the crime and early released returning criminals will keep increasing!

    • You love the value of CA real estate, but cant stand the Libtards? Too bad that money is the most important thing to you, Trumptard. Move to Kentucky or Mississippi where your family of patriots live and shut the hell up Vieja

  3. Dean can’t help it, he’s a mentally/emotionally challenged cuck with a very small bulge in it’s dress. Facts/truths were mentioned and it did the typical Liberal thing, to spin the facts/truths like a child! Look at the devastation the Liberals have done to cities from Seattle to LA, Chicago, Baltimore, Minneapolis, Kenosha, Philadelphia, Detroit, NY, etc.—-Facts not opinions!

  4. Please seek professional help Dean. All that anger will eat you up. Stay loose!
