The “indirect” threat was written on a bathroom wall at the school and did not mention any specific person, however it did mention the date March 25, according to an email sent by Hart High School Principal Collyn Nielsen to parents on Thursday.
Officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station stepped up patrol in and around the high school Friday in response to the threat out of an abundance of caution, said Shirley Miller, public information officer for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“We are continuing to investigate as a school and with the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Department to determine who wrote the threatening message,” read an email send my Nielsen Friday. “This is a good reminder for all of us to be vigilant and aware; if you see something, say something. I want to thank our parents for their patience and understanding as we work through this situation. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.”
Hart District Public Information Officer Dave Caldwell echoed Nielsen’s statement, saying “student safety and staff safety is our number one priority,”
“If we’re going to err, we’re going to err on the side of caution,” Caldwell said.
