Non-Residents Make Up Nearly 50 Percent Of Santa Clarita Weekend Arrests

Nearly 50 percent of the weekend arrests reported in Santa Clarita over the weekend were not Santa Clarita Valley residents, according to arrest logs.

Over the weekend, 39 arrests were reported by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office.

Roughly 46 percent of the arrests reported over the weekend were for individuals who reside outside of the Santa Clarita Valley, including two individuals from Van Nuys and three from Los Angeles, among others.

One Bakersfield resident was arrested for felony carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon.

The other drugs and alcohol arrests included 10 charges of possession of a controlled substance and three charges of being drunk or under the influence in public.

There were a total of 10 felony charges over the weekend, one of which was a Canyon Country resident charged with rape, whose bail was set at $300,000.

Six of the reported weekend arrests were made for transients, and were for charges of drug possession, being under the influence and burglary.
