One Detained After Alleged Lewd Acts Against Juvenile At Westfield Valencia Town Center

One person was detained Friday afternoon after alleged lewd acts against a male juvenile near the Solitas Mexican restaurant in the patios of the Westfield Valencia Town Center, officials said.

Just before 3 p.m. Friday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station received reports of possible sex crimes against a minor in the patios of the Valencia mall, according to Sheriff’s officials.

“We had multiple units respond to that location,” said Deputy Ed Luna with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Information Bureau. “An informant said that they saw a person inappropriately touch a minor.”

Deputies detained one suspect in connection with the incident near the bathrooms by the former Sears location near a playground as they investigated the alleged crime, according to officials on scene.

“Somebody has been detained,” Luna said.

While officials confirmed that the victim was a male juvenile, they were unable to give any details on the suspect.
