A Newhall man was arrested for being in connection with multiple gas generator thefts from an RV park in Castaic last week.
Deputies with the Crime Impact Team have been investigating a recent series of gas generator thefts in Castaic, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“The victim experienced several thefts of gas generators at an RV park on the 31500 block of Ridgeroute Road in Castaic, with the most recent occurring on 10/19/22,” Arriaga said.
Deputies took information obtained from the initial investigation and were able to identify a suspect and vehicle used during the gas generator thefts, Arriaga said.
“Records indicated the registered owner was actually on active parole,” Arriaga said.
Crime Impact Team deputies conducted a parole compliance search at the suspect’s residence on the 24900 block of Walnut Street in Newhall in which the stolen property was located and recovered, Arriaga said.
Arturo Velasquez, 46, from Newhall, was arrested on felony grand theft, and remains in custody as of Tuesday.
A woman was also contacted in the residence and was issued a citation for a warrant, according to Arriaga.

Used to be when a criminal violated the terms of their parole they’d be sent back to prison to finish their sentence. No more, thanks to liberal “prison reform.” They should not even call it parole, they should call it “Democrat Get Out of Jail Free Card” to be more accurate.
Correct. We are the land of unlimited chances for criminals (not the law-abiding) due to voters electing Democrats and their “criminal justice reform” strategy. He’ll be free and will repeat the offenses.
F’ing around in Castaic Lake RV park….lucky he didn’t get shot.
Poor guy probably down on his luck. Just goes to show how early release does not work. Maybe the health care professionals can get him on the right track. HA!
20 years in the slammer. No parole. Buy, buy, Arturo.
Hello Gascon! Who won’t prosecute.
California prisons are overcrowded and must do early release.
Only fed pens require complete time served and these were not Federal crimes.
Dennis. You say.
