A pursuit ended in Castaic Thursday after the stolen vehicle ran out of gas.

Around 3:45 a.m. Thursday, California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall units responded to a pursuit in progress on the northbound 5 Freeway south of Santa Clarita, said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.

“CHP Central units had a pursuit they initiated in the downtown L.A. area,” Greengard said.  

CHP Newhall officers took over the pursuit in the Castaic area going northbound on the 5 Freeway.

“After a few miles the suspect vehicle, (a) Chevrolet Tahoe ran out of gas and stopped on the right shoulder,” Greengard said.  

The driver, Maria Adelina Solis, 27, from Los Angeles, was arrested on multiple charges including felony evading, possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of stolen merchandise located inside the vehicle, Greengard said.

The passenger, Isaiah Caprii Bobo, 22, from Portland, Oregon, was also arrested on felony stolen merchandise charges, Greengard added. 

Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with Solis’s bail set at $85,000 and Bobo given $0 bail, according to arrest records.
