Resident’s Call Leads To Attempted Burglary Arrest In Stevenson Ranch

A resident’s quick call to law enforcement led to the arrest of a man accused of attempting to burglarize a home in Stevenson Ranch Saturday night.

Deputies responded at approximately 9:30 p.m. to a neighborhood near The Old Road and Silver Aspen Way after a resident reported suspicious activity, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The caller told deputies they observed a masked man who appeared to be casing homes before attempting to open a window at one of the residences.

Deputies quickly arrived in the area, located the suspect and took him into custody.

The suspect, identified as a 43-year-old Los Angeles man, was arrested on felony attempted burglary charges and for possession of burglary tools.

He was transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail, where he remained in custody as of Sunday on $50,000 bail.

Sheriff’s officials credited the alert resident for promptly reporting the suspicious activity and reminded the community to report suspicious behavior as soon as it is observed.

“If you see suspicious activity, let us know,” said officials in a social media post. “Together, we can keep our community safe.”
