Eighteen arrests were reported in Santa Clarita over the weekend as temperatures reached triple digits, with over half of all arrests for driving under the influence (DUI).
Between Friday, June 10, and Sunday, June 12, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office arrested 18 people, a decrease from last weekend’s 23, according to booking logs.
Of the 18 documented arrests, 12 were for DUI-related charges, two for drugs and one for an addict in possession of a firearm.
Other arrests that made this weekend’s log included evading, battery on a former spouse, and terrorizing causing fear.
Of the 18 arrested, nine of those were from addresses outside of the Santa Clarita Valley, or transients, according to booking logs.
