Santa Clarita Inmate Charged With Possession Of A Deadly Weapon In Sheriff’s Station Jail

Deputies arrested a suspect Tuesday on multiple warrants, leading to additional weapon charges when deputies found he was in possession of a concealed weapon during a Sheriff’s Station jail search, officials said.

On Tuesday morning, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Lyons Avenue in Newhall for a vehicle code violation, according to Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The driver was discovered to have warrants in the system, ranging from weapons to narcotics possession, as well as trespassing, according to Miller.

Deputies arrested David Ocampo, 25, on the warrants and asked the suspect if he had any weapons on him. Ocampo reportedly stated “no,” according to Sheriff’s officials.

Ocampo was transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail for booking.

During the booking process, deputies discovered a razor blade concealed on the suspect.

Ocampo was arrested on the felony charge of possession of a deadly weapon by an inmate.

Bail was set for $85,000, according to arrest records.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
