A Santa Clarita man was arrested after he allegedly fled on foot from a traffic stop on Monday evening.

Around 7:45 p.m. Monday, a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer conducted a traffic stop on a silver Ford truck for a traffic violation on Oak Springs Road near Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country, said Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.

“The suspect stopped his vehicle and began walking towards the rear of a residence,” Burgos-Lopez.

Officers attempted to stop him before he began running behind the home, according to officials.

A use of force was used to take him into custody, according to Burgos-Lopez.

David Dejesus Martinez, 23, from Canyon Country, was taken to the hospital before being booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail for felony resisting.
