Santa Clarita experienced a rise in arrests over the weekend, with law enforcement personnel reporting a total of 32 arrests, an increase from the previous week’s 24. 

The uptick in incidents ranged from driving under the influence to violent offenses and drug-related crimes.

Among the arrests, 11 were for DUI offenses, marking a continued concern for impaired driving in the community. 

Domestic violence incidents accounted for three arrests, while one individual was taken into custody for battery. More serious offenses included a suspect arrested for possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm.

Traffic violations also contributed to the weekend’s arrest numbers. Two individuals were charged with driving on a suspended or revoked license, one due to drug or alcohol-related reasons and another for other undisclosed reasons. Another driver was taken into custody for operating a vehicle despite knowing their license was suspended.

Retail crime was also present, with two arrests for shoplifting and one for petty theft by an individual with at least two prior convictions. Law enforcement also dealt with cases of false identification, failure to obey a peace officer, and an arrest for making terroristic threats that caused fear.

Drug-related offenses continued to be a concern, with five individuals arrested for possession of drugs or drug paraphernalia. Additionally, one person was charged with possession of a controlled substance while armed.

Of the 32 arrests, 27 were for misdemeanors, while five were classified as felonies. Authorities reported that 20 of those arrested were Santa Clarita residents, while 12 were non-residents.
