Santa Clarita Super Bowl Weekend Arrest Decrease From Last Year

Arrests in the Santa Clarita Valley decreased over Super Bowl weekend compared to last year.

Between Friday and Sunday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office arrested 15 individuals over Super Bowl weekend, according to Santa Clarita weekend arrest logs.

This is a decrease from the 2022 Super Bowl weekend when 22 individuals were arrested.

Over the 2023 Super Bowl weekend, seven drug and alcohol arrests were made with three for DUI, and two for drunk in public and two for being in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Other arrests that made the logs this weekend included robbery, criminal threats and domestic violence.

Of the 15 arrested 11 were residents of Santa Clarita.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
