Over the weekend, Santa Clarita arrest numbers dropped to 11 compared to the previous weekend’s 27, with only a single felony reported by law enforcement.

Officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office and deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station made 11 arrests this last weekend compared to 27 the week before which was a three-day weekend.

The single felony booking reported by law enforcement officials this weekend, from Feb. 25 to Feb. 27, was for illegal possession of ammunition, according to arrest logs.

Eight out of 11 of the arrests made over the weekend were for drug or alcohol-related crimes, according to booking logs.

In that set of eight arrests, half of them were reported as driving-under-the-influence charges, according to law enforcement officials.

A few notable arrests were reported as misdemeanor charges for refusing to leave property upon owner’s request and theft of personal property, according to arrest logs.

Six out of the weekend’s total arrests were of individuals with addresses outside of the Santa Clarita Valley, including at least two transients, according to booking logs.
