Law enforcement agencies across the Santa Clarita Valley reported 40 arrests over the Memorial Day weekend, nearly equal to last year’s numbers.

Between Friday, May 22 and Monday, May 25, 40 arrests were made by deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office.

Of the 40 arrests, seven were felony-level charges, 32 were misdemeanors and one booking did not list a charge level.

Driving under the influence continued to make up the largest category of arrests over the holiday weekend, with 21 persons booked on DUI-related charges involving alcohol, drugs or a combination of both.

Several felony arrests were also reported, including charges of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, assault likely to produce great bodily injury, grand theft and possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm.

Other arrests included battery on a peace officer, contempt of court, vandalism and domestic battery-related offenses.

Of the 40 arrests, 21 of those were of residents of the Santa Clarita Valley and nearby communities.

During the 2025 Memorial Day weekend, authorities reported 43 arrests.
