Law enforcement agencies made a total of 20 arrests across the Santa Clarita Valley over the weekend, marking a decrease of seven arrests compared to the previous reporting period.
Of the 20 arrests, 17 were for misdemeanor offenses, and three were classified as felonies. The majority of arrests — 19 in total — were made by deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
One additional arrest was made by officers from the California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office.
Driving under the influence accounted for a significant portion of the weekend activity. Deputies arrested four individuals for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, including a 42-year-old man, a law enforcement employee, and a 32-year-old teacher.
An additional arrest was made for driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher. One person was also arrested for driving under the influence of drugs combined with alcohol.
Other alcohol- and drug-related arrests included one arrest for being under the influence of a controlled substance, one for possession of a controlled substance, one for possession of a controlled substance with two or more prior convictions, and one for possession of controlled substances or drug paraphernalia while in a prison or jail setting.
Deputies also responded to multiple incidents involving violence or court-related violations. Two arrests were made for domestic violence, two for battery, one for assault with a deadly weapon not involving a firearm with great bodily injury, and one for disobeying a domestic relations court order.
Property-related crimes included two arrests for shoplifting and one arrest for unauthorized entry into a noncommercial dwelling. One individual was arrested for driving with a suspended or revoked license for reasons other than DUI.
