Santa Clarita weekend arrests saw an increase of bookings compared to last weekend, with drugs and alcohol consistently making up a majority of charges.
Between April 8 and April 10, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office arrested 27 people, an increase from last weekend’s 21, according to booking logs.
Of the 27 suspects arrested, 17 were for drug and alcohol-related charges, with 13 DUI arrests.
Other arrests that made the logs included kidnapping, evading law enforcement and vandalism.
Of the 27 arrested, 20 of those were from addresses outside of the Santa Clarita Valley, or transients, according to book logs.
