Santa Clarita Weekend Crime Round-Up: Drug-, Alcohol-Related Crimes Decrease

After a spike in reported drug- and alcohol-related crimes during the first weekend of May, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station reported a decrease of over 30 percent in similar crimes the following weekend.

Between Friday, May 10 and Sunday, May 12, a total of 33 arrests and citations were reported in weekend arrest logs, with 16 made on drug- and alcohol-related charges, according to officials.

Of the 16 arrests and citations, 10 were related to DUI charges, while six were related to charges of possession of controlled substances, according to the weekend arrest logs.

These figures represent an approximate 33 percent decrease in similar crimes reported in the weekend prior, which had 24 drug- and alcohol-related crimes reported between May 3 and May 5.
