Santa Clarita Witnesses Dramatic Decrease In Weekend Crime

For the past few weeks, the number of weekend arrests in the Santa Clarita Valley has been in the twenties. However, local law enforcement agencies experienced a considerable decrease over Easter.

Over the Easter weekend, only five arrests were made by law enforcement in Santa Clarita, with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station making most of the arrests at four, while the California Highway Patrol Newhall Office only had one.

As a result of a retail theft ring, two men from Lancaster were taken into custody on felony charges.

For misdemeanor arrests, a 21-year-old and 58-year-old male were each arrested for driving under the influence.

The final arrestee of the weekend was a 20-year-old Newhall man who was taken into custody for misdemeanor charges of entering someone’s property without consent.
