The week of her murder, Monet was set to graduate from Grand Canyon University as a part of the university’s nontraditional campus commencements with her master’s degree.
Monet’s mother traveled to Arizona in preparation for her daughter’s upcoming graduation. There were also plans for Monet and her mom to make their favorite meals together.
After Monet failed to pick her mother up from the airport, she made her way to Monet’s apartment to find her daughter and recently separated ex-boyfriend dead.
In the midst of these troubled times for the Newton family, a GoFundMe has been created to cover Monet’s funeral expenses.
The GoFundMe states, “Monet was a beautiful soul known for her infectious smile—a vibrant 24-year-old known for her commitment to education and resilient spirit.”
