Search Efforts Continue For Missing Paddleboarder In Castaic Lake

The search for a 61-year-old paddleboarder who fell into the lower lagoon at Castaic Lake continues into its fifth day.

The Lower Lagoon remained closed Thursday, as dive teams continue to search for 61-year-old Espiridion Philip Camez, who went missing Sunday afternoon while paddleboarding on the Lower Lagoon, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials.

Camez’s paddleboard has been recovered, but investigators are still searching Castaic Lake for his whereabouts with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau-Emergency Services Detail, according to the LASD.

Investigators believe that he may not have been wearing a life jacket at the time of his disappearance while on the water.

The investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is currently available.

  1. This sounds like work of the Castaic Lake Monster, known as “Cassie”, has made its presence known.
Either that, or a very, very large Carp has swallowed “Jonah”, and should spit him out soon.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
