Sheriff Department Releases Body Cam Footage Of A Shooting In Castaic (VIDEO)

Body cam footage of a shooting that took place in Castaic in October has been released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The video captures the moment deputies shot 43-year-old Raul Martinez on the 28000 block of Sloan Canyon Road and the 911 call leading up to the shooting.

According to the caller, he overheard a couple arguing in a car before the sound of gunfire broke the silence while he spoke with a dispatcher.

The first responding deputy confirmed the 911 caller’s description of the car. Martinez and a woman were seen arguing outside the driver’s side door.

Martinez pulled out a handgun as the deputy got out of his patrol car, prompting the deputy to open fire.

After other deputies arrived, they administered first aid to Martinez until members of the Los Angeles County Fire Department could arrive. Martinez was then taken to the hospital for treatment of “non-life threatening injuries.”

According to what investigators have learned, Martinez fired his weapon twice during the victim’s domestic dispute. Martinez shot one round into the car while his child was inside.

Following this incident, Martinez was charged with multiple counts, including assault with a firearm, false imprisonment, child endangerment, and other weapon offenses.
