On Friday Dec. 6, deputies received reports of a residential burglary on Eagle Peak Avenue in Canyon Country at approximately midnight, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The suspect entered the garage and reportedly stole numerous items,” Miller said.

The suspect was captured on security video footage, where he was subsequently positively identified by an “experienced SCV Sheriff’s patrol deputy,” Miller said.

Detectives followed-up on the case and discovered the suspect was on parole for assault with a deadly weapon, according to Sheriff’s officials.

“Deputies from the Crime Impact Team (CIT) conducted surveillance at a few locations associated with the suspect,” Miller said.

On Monday the suspect, identified as Robert Celmer, 49, Valencia, was located at his home on the 23000 block of Vista Delgado Drive, and taken into custody without incident, according to Miller.
On Wednesday, the San Fernando District Attorney’s office filed two counts of first-degree burglary, according to Sheriff’s officials.

Celmer remains in jail with bail set at $185,000, Miller said.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
