A report of a mother being shot by her 16-year-old in Saugus on Monday morning has been determined to be a “swatting,” according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.
Around 10:40 a.m. Monday, deputies responded to a reported shooting in the 21800 block of Peppercorn Drive in Saugus.
The 911 caller stated a mother was shot by her 16-year-old son following a verbal argument, and that the shooter locked himself in the bathroom. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials on scene confirmed to KHTS that the incident was a swatting call.
“Swatting” is when a 911 call is placed from an unknown source reporting a false emergency, typically leading to a heavy law enforcement response.
