Tactically Dressed Teenager Arrested For Stealing Imitation Firearm In Newhall

A teenager, dressed in gloves and tactical gear, was arrested Thursday after stealing an imitation firearm from Commando Military Surplus in Newhall.

Around 12 p.m. Thursday, deputies received reports of a theft involving a replica firearm from Commando Military Surplus on the 24300 block of Main Street in Newhall, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“A young kid came in and stole a bulletproof vest and a glock replica,” said an owner of Commando Military Surplus. “(The replica) looks identical to a glock, so he could have pretty much come up to anybody on the street and no one would really know the difference.”

The teenage suspect reportedly asked to try on a bulletproof vest to take pictures, however he quickly ran out of the store, with the stolen imitation firearm in-hand.

The co-owner of the store chased down the suspect, but lost him in an alleyway next to the building, according to witnesses.

The teenager, however, was apprehended soon after the store owners, husband and wife, alerted the authorities, according to witnesses on scene.

“Deputies have a male matching the description detained and are still on scene conducting an investigation,” Arriaga said.

As for the store owners of Military Surplus, the minor loss of their inventory is not of much worry.

“The worry was that he was carrying a replica, which means he could go into a store or something, which is scary for him because it could lead to something worse,” the owner said. “It’s just dangerous for a teenager to have something like that out there.”

  1. Wait till he gets his hands on a real weapon———

  2. We know stealing is wrong, so I’m not addressing that here. The thief should be held responsible.
I guess we’re supposed to embrace one’s freedom to do whatever they want, though. That’s all we hear from the extreme right: Don’t take my rights away.
That was the whole mask mess. People didn’t want to be told what to do. So I imagine those with that mindset are all for a person’s freedom to walk around in a bulletproof vest, carrying whatever he wants, even if it incites concern and fear on the part of others. Before the vaccine, especially, people were fearful of unmasked people who might be spreading a deadly illness. It was a justifiable fear. A MILLION AMERICANS are dead. But that maskless person supposedly had the right to do what he or she wanted; it was unpatriotic to expect them to think of the greater good.
Still concerned about that ugliness, cloaked as “freedom-loving” by selfish people who really don’t care about others. How do we move ahead and raise conscientious children after all they’ve seen their defiant, hostile parents do?

  3. I never said anyone believes stealing is right. Go back and read my first two sentences.
I wrote about the EXTREME right insisting on practicing individual freedoms to the detriment of others. I used Covid problems we had as an example, when the refusal to wear masks caused such upset and further illness.
I haven’t watched CNN in about 6 months and never was a regular viewer.
Your hateful tone proves my point about the hostility that is just beneath the surface, with some people lashing out very easily.

    • Reading your retarded, twisted-illogical post just gave me my morning bowel movement, Ann-of-a-Thousand-Lies. Thanks!
Now please report to the Tower of London for a little off the top.

      • Your hateful tone is sad but not unexpected.
It’s easier to lash out than to really give a well-thought-out response.

        • Yes, I am a HATER!
          I HATE TAXES!!
The only thing I hate more than TAXES are Jake@ss politicians who keep dreaming up new TAXES, or raising old TAXES to fund welfare socialism. Deciding what to blow the Surplus on is just as bad. It is TAXPAYER’S money, not a wad to blow-thru on Sacramento Friday nights.

      • Ben Dover’s tone is a clear indicator of ignorance. Never using any relevant info, only low IQ insults. No wonder he’s a Trump fan.

  4. Ann in Wonderland, You forgot to mention the Liberals screaming & crying about the right to murder an unborn child(abortion), etc.—————-

    • Bill, you are a poster boy of abortion rights. In your case, retroactive abortion rights. We the people believe it is self-evident that B.B. should have his hands broken, PC smashed, and mother burned at the stake, and existence aborted forthwith. A idiot silenced, is less annoying.

    • Abortion is a right, good point Bill

  5. Can’t we all just get along?
