“There was a robbery of a convenience store at about 9 p.m.,” said Lt. Brenda Cambra of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Two men entered a store on the 31500 block of Castaic Road, and the suspects pretended to be customers ready to purchase a candy bar and a drink.
When the store’s clerk opened the cash register for the transaction, one of the suspects — a 6 foot tall, 180-pound Hispanic male with brown hair and brown eyes — acted as though he had a gun under his jacket and demanded money, according to officials.
“The suspect put his hand in his jacket pocket simulating he had a gun,” Cambra said, “and told the clerk to give him the money in the drawer.”
Witnesses were unable to confirm the presence of a gun, officials said.
A small amount of cash was stolen from the store, in addition to the candy bar and the drink.
The suspects then fled in a four-door Honda Accord, according to witness information.
The second suspect was described as a Hispanic man, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 180 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
Sheriff’s Station detectives are in the process of investigating the crime and reviewing evidence, such as security footage, officials said.
No one was hurt in the incident, and no arrests have been made at this time.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
