Transient Arrested After Forcefully Stealing Headlamps From Canyon Country Home Depot

A transient was arrested Monday after he allegedly robbed the Canyon Country Home Depot, stealing multiple headlamps.

Around 2:25 p.m. Monday, deputies responded to the Home Depot in the 20600 block of Golden Triangle Road in Canyon Country regarding a robbery in progress, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“According to the call for service, a male adult suspect was involved in a physical altercation with a loss prevention employee after allegedly taking multiple headlamps from the store without paying,” Miller said. “When confronted by the employee, the encounter escalated into a physical struggle.”

Deputies responding to the robbery call located the suspect, J Garcia Armenta, 22, a transient, and arrested him on felony robbery charges, Miller said.

Garcia Armenta was transported and booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail and remains in custody as of Tuesday evening on $50,000 bail, Miller added.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
