Two Men Arrested After Castaic Brawl Sends One To Hospital

Two Castaic men were arrested Thursday after a physical fight in which one of the suspects allegedly slapped a phone out of a woman’s hand as she was filming the incident.

Around 2:30 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to the 27800 block of Johnson Road in Castaic regarding a fight between two adults identified as 27-year-old Geovannie Lopez and 32-year-old Kenneth Hamilton, both from Castaic, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“A verbal argument between the two allegedly escalated, and Hamilton allegedly vandalized Lopez’s vehicle,” Miller said. “When Hamilton reportedly noticed an adult female recording the incident from her vehicle, he approached her and slapped the phone from her hand.”

Following the vandalism, Lopez then allegedly began punching Hamilton, according to Sheriff’s officials.

Lopez was arrested on felony assault charges.

Hamilton was transported to the hospital for his injuries.

After being released, Hamilton was arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge for allegedly striking the female victim’s hand when he knocked the phone from her grasp, as well as a felony vandalism charge for the alleged damage to Lopez’s vehicle.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
