Starting around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers attempted to make a stop for unknown reasons on a black Dodge Ram near Rye Canyon Road and the 5 Freeway, said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.
The truck failed to stop, and officers pursued the vehicle on to the 5 Freeway, according to Greengard.
While the chase was on the 5 Freeway the suspect turned around and started driving the wrong direction, according to officials.
“Officers ended the pursuit and attempted to have other officers locate the vehicle,” Greengard said. “(Officers) are not going to turn around on the freeway, it’s very dangerous.”
Officers were unable to relocate the truck according to Greengard.
The second pursuit began around 1 a.m. by CHP units in the Antelope Valley, according to Greengard.
The second pursuit involved an unlicensed juvenile who was driving a vehicle she did not have permission to use, and reportedly had warrants in the City of Beverly Hills, Greengard said.
“The pursuit passed through the Newhall CHP’s area and made its way to Central L.A.,” Greengard said.
The pursuit made its way back up into the Santa Clarita Valley, where the chase came to an end.
The juvenile suspect was arrested for evading and was transported to Beverly Hills for warrants, Greengard said.
Due to the suspect being a minor, her age and identity is unable to be released.
