Weekend Crime Report: 35 Arrests Made Across Santa Clarita Valley

Law enforcement agencies made 35 arrests in the Santa Clarita Valley over the weekend, with DUI arrests making up a significant portion of the bookings and several felony cases also standing out.

According to booking records from Oct. 2 through Oct. 4, 19 of the people arrested listed Santa Clarita Valley as their home, while 16 were from outside the SCV.

The records include arrests made by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and California Highway Patrol.

Of the 35 arrests, 8 involved felony charges and 25 involved misdemeanors. Two additional bookings did not have a charge listed in the records, so they were not included in either category.

Deputies from Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station accounted for 21 arrests, while CHP’s Newhall area Office made 10 arrests. Three additional arrests were listed under the LASD Palmdale Station and one under the LASD PDC/South Facility.

Driving under the influence was one of the most common charges throughout the weekend.

CHP-Newhall made several DUI arrests, including arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher.

LASD’s Santa Clarita Valley Patrol also made multiple DUI arrests, including several involving Santa Clarita Valley residents.

Among the CHP arrests was a case involving a person accused of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, a felony charge that carried a listed bail amount of $190,000.

Several of the weekend’s felony bookings involved more serious allegations.

A Palmdale man was arrested on suspicion of identity theft in a case handled by LASD’s Santa Clarita Valley Station. The charge was listed as felony identity theft.

Another felony arrest involved a Palmdale resident accused of domestic violence. The booking listed bail at $50,000.

CHP-Newhall arrested a man on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent. The case was listed as a felony with $190,000 bail.

A separate felony case involved a Littlerock resident accused of child abuse with possible great bodily injury or death. The booking record shows the person was released under a detention-only provision rather than remaining in custody.

Another felony booking involved a Santa Clarita transient accused of bringing, sending or possessing a deadly weapon in jail.

A woman listed as transient in Santa Clarita was also booked on suspicion of grand theft involving money or property valued at more than $400. The case carried a listed bail amount of $175,000.

LASD also booked a Lancaster transient on a felony petition to revoke post-release community supervision, commonly known as PRCS. The booking listed $80,000 bail.

The weekend bookings also included arrests for controlled-substance possession, disobeying a domestic-relations court order, petty theft, shoplifting, driving with a suspended or revoked license and battery involving a former spouse, fiancé or dating partner.

One Santa Clarita Valley booking involved a felony allegation of bringing or possessing a deadly weapon in jail, while another involved felony grand theft.
