Woman Arrested After Striking Man In Head With ‘Large Brick’

A Newhall woman was arrested Tuesday after she allegedly struck a man in the head with a “large brick” in an attempt to steal his cell phone.

Around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to Springbrook Avenue and Drayton Street in Newhall regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The caller stated that an adult female struck an adult male on the head with an unknown object,” Miller said. “Upon arrival, deputies determined the suspect allegedly struck the victim on the head with a large brick and attempted to forcibly take his cell phone.”

The victim, a man in his 50s, was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

“During the investigation, deputies found the suspect in possession of methamphetamine and narcotics paraphernalia,” Miller said.

Ksenia Shokot, 47, a transient from Newhall, was arrested on felony charges of attempted robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, Miller said.

Shokot was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Shokot was transported and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail and remains in custody on $175,000 bail as of Wednesday afternoon, according to Miller.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
