Woman Faces Felony Charges After Allegedly Trying To Stab Husband With Samurai Sword

A Newhall woman was booked on felony charges Friday after allegedly attempting to stab her husband with a “samurai sword.”

April Gonzales-McAdoo, 36, of Newhall was arrested late Friday afternoon and booked on felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

At approximately 4:45 p.m. on Feb. 28, deputies responded to reports of an assault on the 21300 block of Alder Drive in Newhall.

“The caller stated that the suspect was allegedly trying to stab the victim (her husband) ‘with a samurai sword,’” Miller said.

Deputies took Gonzales-McAdoo into custody at gunpoint, and a sword was later recovered on scene, according to officials.

“The victim declined medical treatment,” Miller added.

Gonzales-McAdoo was transported to and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, but was released on bail several days later. Her first court appearance is set for March 26.

  1. How come we don’t have information on the women who shot and killed her husband on Rainbow Glen Drive in Newhall, On the 15th of February 2020. This gated housing development (Scenic Hills) shouldn’t be exempt from crime reports. Are the members afraid of what this murder will do to home sales? Here, a lady is preparing a meal, and the ungrateful fellow gets in the way of the Sushi trimming. And we get all this information, Huh. Stay out of the kitchen guy.

  2. One of the other reports showed a deputy carrying the sword out. It was not a samurai but a decorative sword that looked European type. But I suppose that samurai sounds better in the news than just plain sword. It just seems poor reporting to get the facts wrong. Either one can hurt you.
