A Bakersfield woman was arrested for vehicle theft, among other felonies, after she allegedly stole car keys and other personal items from gym lockers, then took vehicles from the parking lots.
Detectives investigated dozens of locker burglaries at four different gyms within the Santa Clarita Valley between July 2025 through February 2026, according to officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“The suspect allegedly stole wallets, purses, and keys from gym lockers, then used victims’ credit cards to make unauthorized purchases,” Sheriff’s officials said. “In some cases, she used stolen keys to take victims’ vehicles.”
Through investigative work by detectives from the SCV Sheriff’s Station and deputies from the Crime Impact Team (CIT) and the Special Assignment Team (SAT), the suspect was identified and tracked to Bakersfield.
“(Wednesday) night, our CIT deputies traveled to Bakersfield and arrested the suspect,” Sheriff’s officials said. “They transported and booked her at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail.”
Monique Brown, 39, from Bakersfield, was charged with burglary, auto theft, and identity theft, according to officials.
She was also found to have 11 warrants for her arrest, spanning three counties.
