COC Foundation Chief Development Officer ‘Abruptly’ Resigns

Jerry De Felice, the chief development officer of the College of the Canyons Foundation, “abruptly” resigned from his position Thursday.

De Felice’s decision to step down came after a meeting that proposed personnel changes in the foundation, Eric Harnish, a spokesperson for COC told KHTS.

“After proposed personnel changes in the Foundation were shared with him, Jerry De Felice abruptly resigned from his position as Chief Development Officer of the College of the Canyons Foundation,” Harnish said. “We appreciate his work to connect the community with the college and generate resources that help our students achieve their goals.”

Following De Felice’s decision to resign, the board will now find an interim replacement, according to officials.

“Longer term, the district will evaluate the duties of the chief development officer position and open a recruitment to select a replacement,” Harnish said.

This comes days after Ryan Theule, the Vice President of the Canyon Country Campus resigned to start a new chapter in his life working alongside his church.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
