College of the Canyons (COC) is set to host Welcome Day next month to provide assistance to incoming freshman students and their families.

The Welcome Day event is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Honor Grove at the Valencia campus, according to COC officials.

The event is expected to cater to new, prospective and continuing students, offering a range of workshops covering topics including financial aid and strategies for academic success.

“We are very excited to host this event once again for incoming students,” said Jasmine Ruys, vice president of student services at COC. “We hope that students and their families walk away with a better understanding of everything COC has to offer before the start of the fall semester.”

Students are expected to be provided with individualized assistance in the application and registration process for the upcoming fall semester.

They are set to have the opportunity to interact with other new students and professors and explore various academic majors.

Additionally, students may be able to participate in a campus tour to familiarize themselves with the campus environment and gain knowledge about the available support programs.

Workshops are scheduled for 30-minute intervals between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., according to officials.

The event is free and welcomes new and prospective students, along with their families.

During the event, parking in all college lots are expected to be free.
