College of the Canyons (COC) is a local Santa Clarita 2-year college that is dedicated to providing new avenues and opportunities to help our community members grow and succeed.
In a recent interview on KHTS’ Hometown Morning Show, hosts Tori and Kyle spoke with Jasmine Ruys, Vice President of Student Services at COC.
In a world rocked by the pandemic, education is more important now than ever. At COC, professionals like Jasmine Ruys are equipped and impassioned to help students achieve their goals.
One of these unique opportunities is COC’s School of Personal and Professional Learning. What this school offers students are free non-credit classes to help them improve professional skills or explore a passion. These classes are completely free to anyone who wants to enroll, whether you are looking to break into a new career or simply want to expand your knowledge.
These classes are free of charge, but do not count towards a regular college degree. Some of the skills and knowledge-based classes that the school offers are Adobe Photoshop Certification, Law Enforcement Technologies, Excel training, Spanish for Healthcare Workers, and Theatre. These are just a few of the many classes this program offers.
“Whether students are looking to take a class to get ahead in their jobs, graduate faster, learn a skill that will enable them to launch a new career or advance in a current career, a short-term class can help them achieve their goals,” College of the Canyons officials said.
With traditional classes priced at just $46 per credit, College of the Canyons is the perfect stepping stone to a 4-year university or for simply furthering your education and enrichment. Other schools charge nearly ten times per credit higher than COC, which can become quite the burden for many people. COC is a great option to save some money while still receiving a quality education.
