Welcoming a new board member, the Newhall School District has appointed Isaiah Talley as its representation for Trustee Area No. 4, which includes Newhall Elementary School, as well as McGrath Elementary school.

After former board member and recently retired Mike Shapiro had to step down from his position before moving to another city, the search for a new board member went into effect immediately.

When Talley was asked why he wanted to be a member of the school board, he responded with: “I wish to help the schools my son will attend be the best they can be.”

Isaiah Talley graduated from The Master’s University with a bachelor’s of science degree, as well as an MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management, before going on to run a local business with his wife, Hannah.

Board President Sue Solomon appeared impressed by the answers Talley gave during his interview process and his apparent dedication to the schools.

“In his interview before the board, Mr. Talley showed a sincere interest in serving the district,” said Solomon. “He cares a lot about children and understands that excellent schools bring children the promise of a better future.”

Talley was sworn in by the board Sept. 6, during a board meeting before his fellow board members, as well as his wife and son.

“My fellow board members and I welcome Mr. Talley to our team,” Solomon said, “and to the entire Newhall School District family.”
