Hart District Names Two Administration Appointments

The William S. Hart Union High School District has named new administrators Thursday, promoting two principals with a combined 47 years of education experience.

The Hart District Governing Board has approved Dr. Collyn Nielsen as Chief Administrative Officer and Jan Hayes-Rennels as Director of Special Programs and Staff Development.

Dr. Nielsen has been the Principal of Hart High School for the past 11 years. Before that he was an Assistant Principal at both Saugus and Hart for 10 years and an English teacher since 1992. He received his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from UCLA and both his Masters and Bachelors Degrees from Cal State-Northridge.

“I am excited by this opportunity to serve the students, staff, and community of the Hart District in this new capacity,” Nielsen said. “It is an honor to work with the people in this district to benefit our students and their educational experience.”

The Chief Administrative Officer position is new to the Hart District. Dr. Nielsen’s responsibilities will cover maintenance and operations, facilities and emergency preparedness. The CAO position will become a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet.

Ms. Hayes-Rennels has been the Principal of Placerita Junior High School for the past six years. Before that she was an Assistant Principal at Canyon High School for six years and a science teacher for ten years. She received her Bachelors Degree from UC-Irvine, teaching credential from UCLA and Masters Degree from the University of La Verne.

“I am very excited to continue the great work we are doing as a district for all our students,” Hayes-Rennels said. “In education, we are in the life-changing business. There is no better work than empowering others, giving them the tools, support, and guidance to grow and succeed in immeasurable ways.”
