New Assistant Principal Appointed To Canyon High School

The appointment of Catherine Celaya as the newest assistant principal at Canyon High School was overwhelmingly accepted by the William S. Hart Union High School District Governing Board.

“We are excited to introduce Ms. Catherine Celaya, the newest addition to the Hart District,” said Superintendent Mike Kuhlman. “With her extensive administrative experience gained from her commendable work in the Burbank Unified School District, we are confident that Celaya will make a positive impact supporting students, staff, and parents as a member of the Canyon High School Administrative Team.”

Celaya started her teaching career in Japan, then spent a brief period of time teaching English at Downey High School before relocating to the Burbank Unified School District, where she has resided since 2008.

Prior to taking the position of Title I Coordinator at John Muir Middle School in the same district, she worked as an English teacher and the English Language Development Coordinator at John Burroughs High School.

She started as an assistant principal at the same school in 2015 and has held the position for the past seven years.

After a fruitful teaching and leadership career in the Burbank Unified School District, Celaya joins the Hart District community as an assistant principal.

Celaya graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a bachelor’s in anthropology and California State University, Northridge with a master’s in educational leadership and policy studies.
