Heaven on Earth
Heaven on Earth is a sanctuary for homeless cats who are usually overlooked because of their low potential for adoption due to the fact that they feral, disabled, elderly, or sick. 15 years ago, in the February of 2000, Eri Cronkhite started with a mission to end the suffering and destruction of homeless animals because of the overpopulation crisis. The current operation was created when she got a call that 5 kittens had survived a collapsing pipe accident; but were feral and afraid of people, so they were given a low chance of being adopted.
Eri believed that every animal deserved a chance at life, so she shifted her operation from just an adoption program for rescued strays and spay-neuter services to a full on santuary. Heaven on Earth is now a sanctuary for round 150 cats who are there for a range of reasons; some are waiting to be adopted, others are living temporarily in their isolation room, and then there are those cats whose special needs, chronic health issues or age mean that Heaven on Earth will most likely be their home for the rest of their lives.
Heaven on Earth has many different range to help them fulfil their mission. They run the Perry MacFarlane Sanctuary, which is a no kill and cage free facility. They also have an adoption program, and hold mobile adoption events held every weekend at several different locations, and also at Perry’s place. SpayShip Transport Service works in conjunction with local spay/neuter clinics, to provide free transportation and trapping assistance for community and companion cats.
In addition to all this they provide community outreach, which is referral, guidance, support and humane education. They know they cannot help every cat, but to make up for it, they help everyone who calls in asking for help with a cat.
