The COC MakerFaire is a biannual competitive event themed around college academic programs in conjunction with the innovative thinking and progressive technology found at the COC MakerSpace.
Consisting of three different challenges, participants in the Hydro Ape Challenge had to either construct an articulated ape hand, create a filter for contaminated water or produce a video blog for MakerFaire.
The judges will evaluate each of the student team’s projects on the hand’s articulation capabilities and mechanics during a series of increasingly difficult grabbing challenges conducted during the MakerFaire.
Walter filtration devices created by student teams will be judged on its level of purification based on pH, conductivity, spectrophotometry, as well as smell and taste.
Using footage from The Hydro Ape Challenge, student teams competing in the video blog challenge had to create a two to three-minute video to submit to judges.
Each of the three different categories has its very own prize.
