Last month, the family of 2-year-old Kaden Schanfarber began a GoFundMe page to help support Kaden in his recovery.

Family friend Allison Padula then helped to set up a fundraiser for Kaden at the Del Taco on 26270 Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus, and the restaurant agreed to donate a portion of its sales directly to the Schanfarber family.

“Dylan Schanfarber and I would like to thank our amazing family, friends and community members that came to support Kaden at Del Taco yesterday,” according to a post by Danyelle Paradis-Schanfarber, Kaden’s mother, who published a heartfelt thank you on the Kisses for Kaden Facebook page. “When we walked through the doors and saw that there wasn’t a single seat available we were instantly overwhelmed by your love and support for our family.” She continued. “We will be forever grateful to each of you for making time to come see us and for your support, yesterday was so much more than we could have imagined. From the bottom of our extremely grateful hearts, thank you all.”

In just 23 days, the Schanfarber family was able to raise $10,475 from 109 different donors, and donations are still being accepted here.

The Schanfarber family received tons of support over the weekend as the community came out to chow down on some Del Taco and help a local family get through this difficult time.

Additionally, Waste Management heard about the fundraiser and remembered Kaden as the little boy who would run out to give them little bags of chips and bottles of Gatorade. The company decided to make a donation of its own, and stopped by the family’s home to give the child rides in the truck and to give him a bag of toys.
