In addition to a variety of family-friendly entertainment and fun activities planned for the animal lovers of the SCV, hundreds of dogs, cat, kittens and puppies will also be available for adoption at the 16th annual event.
“Adoption is the most humane way to bring home a new best friend, and it’s the most cost-effective too,” said Yvonne Allbee, founder of Bow-Wows & Meows, Inc. “Most of the dogs and cats at the fair were once part of a family, so they acclimate really well to being in a home again.”

All six Los Angeles County Animal Shelters are set to offer discounted adoption fees of just $30, with adoptions also available from the Santa Clarita-based rescues St. Bonnie’s Sanctuary and New Leash on Life, as well as Best Friends Animal Society L.A. and Boxer Rescue L.A.
While adoption fees and policies vary by organization, every adoptable county shelter pet will be ready to go home that day, meaning they are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped.
Adopters are also set to receive a complimentary goody bag for their new furry family member, courtesy of the sponsors and vendors of the Bow-Wows & Meows Pet Fair.
Since its inception in 2001, the nonprofit Bow-Wows & Meows. Inc. has adopted out nearly 2,000 pets at its annual fairs, with a record-breaking 200 adoptions in a single day at last year’s fair.
“Our goal is to send all the shelter trucks back empty at the end of the day,” Allbee said. “With the community’s help, we can make that happen.”

Allbee encouraged the animal lovers of the community to help contribute to the fair’s success by spreading the word about the event on Facebook, Instagram (bowwowspetfair) and Twitter (@BowWowsPetFair).
“Social media makes a big impact by bringing more adopters to the fair,” she said, “helping us save as many lives as possible.”
