Discussing Teen Mental Health And How Parents Can Help

Dr. Regine Muradian from the Insight Treatment center in Santa Clarita sits down with special guest Robert Mack to discuss teen mental health, her first premiere show on her first special on the air.

Muradian is a psychologist, author and teen mental health advocate in the area, Mack is a best selling author, ivy league educated positive psychology expert and a celebrity happiness coach.

Mack has been endorsed by Oprah, Vanessa Williams and so many more for his great work on mental health issues.

Mack says he defines love as feeling one with life itself and somebody else. Mack says there are different types of self love, and the self love he wants to focus on is about a healthy and intentional kind of self love.

Mack says showing our teens as parents what it means to have self love and care for ourselves and be patient with ourselves is the best way to show our teens what self-love is.

Emotions are contagious and “children learn best from living shining examples”.

Muradian reads from Mack’s book, “self love is the best love, and when you love yourself, you love others effortlessly”

Mack explains he did not experience self love when she was younger, and he was always critiquing himself and how he looked which diminished his self-esteem.

However, Mack then started journaling everyday what he liked about himself, and that daily reminder grew his self love and his love for others too.

It’s a sort of magic when people can focus on self love in order to treat each other better and be more social.

Mack also explains that when parents are having conversations with their teen about mental health, they want to do it in a way that leans towards a more positive and constructive conversation.

Mack recommends learning to tell a truthful but more positive story about our lives and children and their lives.

Looking towards a sunnier future instead of reminiscing on the negative aspects of life can change the way we look at the world, and instead of focusing on the clouds, we should focus on the sunshine when the clouds part.

Dr. Regine Muradian from the Insight Treatment Center in Santa Clarita does a great job with Robert Mack, discussing teen mental health.

  1. Parents can help their precious, innocent children by not letting them listen to & emulate Gangster Rap (PC called hip-hop/rap to sell, sell, sell to naive youngsters wanting to be cool) which distorts their rationale & morals! Also cell phone addiction.
