Over 20 years ago, Insight Treatment started out as a teen support group for drugs and alcohol abuse in Los Angeles that has evolved into a program that helps teens from 13-19 years of age deal with their mental health and struggles while addressing underlying issues that are attributing to their mental health or substance abuse.

At Insight, treating an adolescent effectively doesn’t just start and stop with substance abuse and mental struggles.

Insight also uses treatments attending to emotional, physical, familial, spiritual, academic and biological elements. Insight is a space that is open and welcoming to family members of the teen to help understand the root of the problem while effectively recovering and healing as a unified family.

Insight and their counselors know firsthand how drug use isn’t usually the root of the problem at hand. Insight counselor Jermaine Watt shared his story with KHTS about how his own struggle with addiction was more of a “temporary remedy” as he internally struggled with low esteem and abandonment issues that started in his youth.

Insight offers numerous groups, such as: psycho-educational groups, skill-building groups, experiential groups and gender-specific groups.

Topics discussed range from trauma, depression and anxiety, substance abuse, medication management, self-esteem, and more.

Teens at Insight do better in group settings as they are able to listen to the other kids going through similar situations as themselves and teens progress more effectively when they’re able to help newer teens through their recovery journey.

Insight groups consist of a combination of individual and family therapy and both are proven to be an effective component in a teen’s recovery process.
