Dennis P. Nobile – U.S. Marine Corps Veteran – Valencia Resident

I tried for approximately four years to convince my good friend Dennis Nobile to allow me to tell his Veteran story but alas, he has demonstrated a great deal of humility coupled with extraordinary stubbornness which has simply stalled the process.

By the way, Dennis owns and operates, what I believe is one of the most unique and successful businesses in the World, “Sun Air Parts,” right here in Valencia.  His business focuses on refurbishing propeller airplane engines from all around the globe.  People who own such airplanes, including those long out of production, are well acquainted with Dennis and his company’s unrivaled expertise.

Several years ago, Dennis, a very proud Marine Corp Veteran, decided it prudent to have a number of bronze statues of Iwo Jima’s famous flag-raising scene produced and the results are absolutely spectacular.

Once President Donald Trump was elected and occupied the White House, Dennis determined that he wanted to gift one statue to our new President.  It took a while but thankfully, our mutual friend Jim Hackett, a Valencia resident and USMC Vietnam Veteran, reached out to another of our good friends to help facilitate Dennis’ gift.

This is where Timothy Davis, CEO and founder of The Greatest Generations Foundation, stepped in after seeing Dennis’s magnificent statue.  Timothy immediately contacted President Trump’s White House aides and it wasn’t long before Dennis’ extraordinary statue was transported from Valencia to rest just outside the Oval office.

About Bill Reynolds - KHTS Director of Veteran Affairs

I’ve lived in Santa Clarita since 1980 with my wife, with whom I have two wonderful children and five beautiful grandchildren.I’m the first son of a World War II veteran and an Australian WWII War Bride. Instead of being born in one of the world’s most beautiful cities, Sydney, Australia, I was born in Mineral Wells, Texas. After moving around various small west Texas towns and having lived near Sydney, Australia, my family finally settled in the San Fernando Valley in 1955. I graduated from Cleveland High School, attended Pierce College and worked at General Motors in Van Nuys. In the spring of 1966, I was drafted into the U.S. Army and sent to Vietnam. I recently starred in National Geographic’s Emmy nominated documentary, “Brothers in War” now seen on Netflix. Read about "Hometown Heroes - Our Veterans" series, click here...
