Information on how to donate to local fire relief programs…
KHTS has received numerous inquiries via phone and email asking how to make donations to assist local families and individuals who have been affected by the most recent fires.
The Santa Clarita Valley Disaster Coalition (SCVDC) is an all-volunteer coalition of local organizations, businesses and individuals whose mission is to work together to provide supplemental humanitarian relief assistance during crisis situations in our community, our state, our country. The Coalition was formed in 2005 in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and continues to assist whenever assistance is needed. For more information on this organization, and how you can help, please visit www.scvcoalition.com.
At this time, 20 homes have burnt down in the Santa Clarita Valley. To directly assist residents affected by the fires, the SCV Disaster Coalition is only accepting cash or check, as well as gift cards. No other donations will be accepted.
"The Santa Clarita Valley Disaster Coalition is an important local agency that gives back to its community. Each donation that is given will go directly to helping local families recover from this disaster," said Mayor Pro-tem Bob Kellar.
