12 year old Bella battles leukemia one day at a time.
[view:node_ad=5]While most kids are out for summer, enjoying vacations and pool parties, young Bella can’t. She has been diagnosed with cancer.
While the costs of medication and treatments are quickly rising, Bella and her mother Silvia found some help through friends and family at a fundraiser at Dream Dinners. On May 27th everyone was invited to shop at Dream Dinners, where 10% of the proceeds went straight towards Bella’s treatment expenses.
Joyce Venezuela, a family friend said that the event was definitely a success. “It went very well. Silvia was crying when she saw how many people came to support her daughter. And last week I was able to deliver the check, totaling to $565. She couldn’t believe how much money the event raised.”
Even though the fundraiser’s outcome was great news, what Bella’s doctors told her was quite a setback. “Due to her treatments, the doctors say that she will be homebound until at least January 2009. Bella is very disappointed,” said Venezuela. Taking matters into her own hands, Venezuela has thought of a way to cheer up Bella and she calls it “Blessings For Bella”.
“I’m going to have people sign up to write a letter to Bella on a certain day every month. That way she can get a little inspirational note everyday,” Venezuela said. “If writing every month is too much of a commitment, you can just write one.”
