The money is being generated by a quarter-cent sales tax increase for the next 10 years voters authorized by voters in November.
This dedicated funding is expected to help 45,000 families and individuals escape homelessness within 5 years and prevent homelessness for 30,000 others.
However, with dozens of agencies involved and hundred of thousands of lives impacted, there’s obviously a lot of issues to discuss regarding priorities and funding.

The county adopted the Los Angeles County Homeless Initiative last year, approving 47 strategies that reach across government and community boundaries to forge effective partnerships and get results. In December 2016, the Board placed Measure H on the March 7 ballot, which would provide an estimated $355 million for 10 years to fund ongoing services and housing.
The more than $3.5 billion is expected to fund a host of issues, including homeless outreach, emergency shelters, rapid rehousing and veteran advocacy, among others.
